Working in Australia & Graduate Visa

Australia allows international students to gain work experience during and after their studies — but it is important to understand the rules clearly.

During Study and After Graduation

Eligible students can apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

This allows you to:

  • Stay in Australia after graduation

  • Gain full-time work experience

  • Build your career or explore longer-term pathways

During Study
  • Students can work part-time (up to 48 hours per fortnight) during term

  • Full-time work allowed during scheduled breaks

  • Helps with living expenses and local work experience

👉 Many students work in retail, hospitality, or entry-level roles while studying

After Graduation (Post-Study Work Visa)

Duration depends on your qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: typically 2–3 years

  • Master’s Degree: typically 2–3 years

  • Selected qualifications may have extended duration
